Why Doesn't God Come Down and Say Hello?

Well. Why doesn't he, or she? I guess that's the first problem, one of gender. The Bible is gender blind, I mean Adam kept all of his ribs but somehow his wife was created out of one of them instead of out of the earth from which Adam was created. And another question, If Adam and Eve had three sons (no daughters), hmmm, who had sex with whom to keep things going, so to speak? So anyway, God might be female, or male, or Gay.
Do you think that He looks like a father figure, whatever that means? Maybe old, gray beard, wise-looking, powerful looking, all the things that we can relate to. Maybe he would shape-shift into something different for everyone so that we could all connect? A white light, an old man, a rainbow, But whatever He appears as, please . . . just appear!
I see three reasons why He might not appear. The first one is obvious; He is just a dream, a creation of the insecure human mind because historically we have made Gods out of what we can't understand. The second reason is that He is shy.
Yes, God is shy. You wouldn't think that a powerful God would be shy, but after what we have done to His earth and how we have turned out, wouldn't you be shy as well! Who would throw themselves into such a situation, especially if he was very wise?
The third reason is because of overexposure. I mean, the mystery of God is what makes God so . . . Omnipotent. If he was here on a daily basis, just think of all the arguments he would have to field, from health care to how many troops should we put in Afghanistan! Plus, how many hours are there in the day to heal all the people one by one. He could probably heal everyone all at once, but why hasn't he done that already!
Well, I hope that He does show up someday because I have a few questions to ask him. Are you listening God? ARE YOU LISTENING!!!
Okay. Actually, I have hundreds of questions, but I will ask just two, and you can figure out the other hundreds based upon them; Why do innocent children suffer in the hands of sinful parents? Do you only instill grace on white people?" Okay, that's it. I'm waiting. . . . . Still waiting. . . . Okay, no answers today. Maybe tomorrow. Or when you appear.
I won't hold my breath.

Top-level comments on this article: (1 total)I offend wondered about the appearance of God. Sometimes I think God is an intelligence, no body just an all knowing all loving intelligence. Perhaps the sun in our solar system is the almighty God we all profess to believe in. What do you think e?Boy David, you can certainly ask the BIG questions!! Hmm, who or what do I think that God looks like? Maybe my mother-in-law, may she rest in peace! Seriously, He’s probably not the sun in our solar system because our sun is a relatively insignificant star on the fringes of the Milky Way, kind of in the back woods section. (By the way, I have the greatest view of the Milky Way every night (when there is no moon) from my cabin porch in the mountains.) And since He created the universe, he probably wouldn‘t become part of what He created, at least not a small star on the outskirts of town, so to speak.
There are 31 realms in Buddhism that one can go to after their time on earth, and some of the middle ones are God realms, so I suppose David Tanguay could become a God someday! Whoo Hoo! The problem is; all the God realms are temporary, and after some billions of years, even the Gods wear out their good kamma, start to smell, and come back to earth or an earthly type planet! Bummer!
I suppose that God would be impersonal, not looking over our shoulder, which would explain all the human tragedies that a knowing God probably wouldn’t condone, and I suppose that God would be something that is beyond existence as we know it, in another realm and completely beyond physics or physical or mental properties. No beginning, no ending, beyond eternity, beyond time, beyond thought, beyond experience, beyond any kind of understanding - like an ant walking across a page of Shakespeare and not understanding what was written, and the ant will never understand. But the page is still there.
I read a story once about a man entering a strange house and finding a staircase, which he was compelled to climb. The further he climbed, the more fearful he became until he decided to climb back down - but all the steps had disappeared! A Great analogy of trying to find God. It‘s only when the steps and everything else disappears that you can really know Him.
Best.............eWell e, I wasn't referring to a God who created the universe as the bible speaks. I was referring to the God of this planet and Jesus as being his son however perhaps (as I state "PERHAPS") he is the God of our planet. Meaning there may be other God's of other planets. Only something to dwell onAre you sure that you are not a closet Buddhist! Your idea of different Gods for different planets, and enlightened prophets like Buddha and Christ as foot soldiers that can relate to the beings on those different planets falls more in line with Eastern Religions than it does Abrahamic, Middle Eastern religions that are monotheistic (Christianity, Judaism, and Islam). It's just that in Buddhism we rarely speculate on these kinds of ideas because Buddhists are more experiential than believers, and that kind of speculation doesn't help our practice, which is attempting to go beyond the 31 realms so that we don't have to be reborn again in any realm - physical (form) or spiritual (formless)!
According to Buddhist belief, if a Buddhist can reach the first stage of sainthood, he or she is guaranteed not to return to the physical realm more than seven times.Tell me what this sounds like to you e. I have wondered about Buddha also I have what I call "Yogi's Den" which I believe is in the moon. and Buddha and the blessed virgin Mary live there. I believe I told you this one time e. This part of the moon I call the good part of the devil, where one's conscience is derived.Interesting theory. Conscience, in Buddhism, is based on what the Buddha called (in his philosophical and psychological teachings called the Abhidhamma) the “life continuum consciousness” The life continuum consciousness enters us at conception, actually transfers from the previous lifetime right after the death consciousness and the karma transference consciousness of the old lifetime, each taking a milisecond.
The life continuum consciousness contains all our past life impulses, our karma so to speak, habit patterns, kind of like spiritual genes, and influences and directs every action we take. To change that stream and flow of the life continuum consciousness, which has been built up for many thousands of lifetimes, takes a monumental effort, but meditation can cut through it fairly quickly.
Thoughts, imaginings, emotions, all these add to this life continuum consciousness, but in meditation, which is void of thought, imaginings and emotion, the life continuum consciousness begins to weaken, and as it weakens, our old karma weakens and we can free ourselves from a lot of our bad karma that is just waiting to smack us side the head!
