After Armageddon

When we look back through the smoke filled skies of a nuclear winter where all is gone except the few of us that happened to be vacationing in New Zealand, we may wonder how this ever came about.
It may occur to us that America was hamstrung. No changes could be enacted anymore because the end game of a corrupt democracy is always gridlock.
The climate changed but nothing was done about it. Rains diminished, seas dried up. Couples married at young ages to survive, while others stayed with parents, but many were jobless and lived in the streets.
The ending of social programs meant that parents in their old age were destitute and completely dependent upon their children for support. Those that gained their children's favor received help and lived, while those that didn't died.
More and more enterprises were led and controlled by young people without experience, resulting in mercenary practices designed to insure survival regardless of the means to accomplish that.
Religions sank to a low level, splitting and splitting further into narrow, armed camps, the most popular being those that prescribed and justified economic dominance. People were filled with greed and desire and never had enough. They disdained honest, low-paying jobs which couldnt satisfy their ambitions. These kinds of people then manned the halls of congress and ruled the country. They were corrupt, shameless, and attempted to acquire wealth regardless of how corrupt the means were. This occurred not only in America, but in every other country. There were fights over the offices which promised more money through payoffs.
Greed, hatred, distrust, dishonesty all ran their natural course, which is destruction. Nobody could stop it. The fear of abject poverty moved all into the realm of survival of the fittest, and no ways were seen to be unfair or brutal as long as the means were accomplished.
Economic insecurity caused this kind of reaction, and when this happened collectively by each country, nationalistic pride took over, and the enemy, whomever that was perceived to be, showed up predominantly in the sights of the most powerful countries. War was inevitable. Society was failing.
The overriding view that we were all in this for ourselves was the wall that we had to hit, and we hit it hard. There comes a point in delusion where death becomes secondary to control, and this is where the danger lies, for the illusion of control is just that; an illusion.
What is now left to control after Armageddon? Everything is gone, the climate is dead. Now there is only one decision left; will death be long and painful for our families that remain alive on this small island on this burnt out planet, or quick and merciful? It seems to me that better decisions should have been made sooner.
Is it too late?

More commentsHas it ever occurred to anyone that PERHAPS all that is happening now is the beginning of a rebirth? A gestation period, if you will. So many people are focused on the horrors, filled with fear and worry. What can we do? What can we do? And then...there are those who see what this "Armageddon" is. In order for there to be true evolution, there must also be death. So perhaps the world AS WE KNOW IT is dying. Why would we even care to save such a world? The patriarchal mentality has come to its end. Along with it, so will die the terrors of such methods. The Mother is taking back her sacred space. Yes, we must experience these horrors (of our planet's demise, war, poverty, hate crimes, etc.) while we make way for the new world that is emerging.Or maybe it's all an illusion. With this piece you have inspired yet another meandering for me to offer the world. Between us, perhaps we may find a way to instill HOPE rather than fear. We can help Mother along with her rebirthing.Whadday think? Thanks Camille. Of course some of my articles are meant to create a mild shock effect so that we might consider alternatives to what is going down. Hopefully, a switch in consciousness will divert a lot of the obvious trouble ahead, and that can only happen individually, which has an osmosis effect on others. It can never happen as a new political party or idealistic movement. That hasn't worked in the past and never will. It takes a fundamental shift in our individual consciousness, and that is what spiritual warriors and the inner work are all about.agreed. can't wait for you to read what's coming next (inspired by YOU). still working on it. but thanks ever so much for the inspiration!I can't wait either! Will look for it on Reader's Club.
Your articles make us look at things we should, but don't want to look at... I think we turn away in fear and frustration. It saddens me to think of what kind of world we're leaving to our children- but then that's what our parents thought; and their parents before them so on and on.... They will do what we all did, figure out a way to survive- our strongest instinct is the survival instinct- they will find a way. Interesting, thought provoking article E- Thanks- Always- EllaYou are welcome Ella. Thank you so much for your continued support in these admittedly controversial articles:)
Let's say it's not too late - where does one start? My thoughts are to take responsibility for who you are and continually practice both love and compassion? (internally and externally)Hi Heidi. Better yet perhaps, discover what you are and the fabrication of ego. Then everything else falls into place automatically. Practicing love and compassion are good but only playacting if love and compassion aren't a natural reaction due to the fact that a reduced ego puts one in a place where they can see the other more clearly.
I think that this is a very good article, where you involved different areas and that's what is making it interesting. My personal opinion is that it is unfortunately too late, but not so late that everything will be over in 10 or 50 years. But the overwhelming problems that are already caused are too big and enormous to totally solve them.I agree Admir. Without a change in consciousness, which is the way we view things, nothing much will change, only become worse. Thank you.
It is felt that in our perceived physical existence we are as near to Armageddon as ever we will be. Humankind is not all bad, tending to surprise and destroy evil when needed.Thank you Robin. I believe that's what the Christians said before the Crusades, and the French before the inquisition. Whom is evil? Ego is evil, ego is sin. Understanding and letting go of ego ourselves, each individually, is the only hope. The "evil" have nukes, and the next time, you will see mushroom clouds in your own little neighborhood and wet your pants! Better to find more humane solutions while we can.
I agree we cannot be all for ourselves, and we all need to help each other. I just have one problem with the decimation of social services and I better let an true leader speak from her own words. "The Problem with Socialism, You run out of other peoples money" Lady Margaret Thatcher. I am not implying we are socialist but yes we are going to Armageddon but not because of lack of social services but lack of government partnering with business instead always against it. Low paying jobs are not the result of private industry as much of government regulation, taxes etc. These same people who say that government is the solution also said, and I have heard it, that the Gulf Oil spill will be around for a Century. So where is the oil? Thimble full of oil in a vast Gulf of Mexico. Yes there are some problems but we need to use are brains instead of emotions. With capitalism, they don't run out of the people's money, they use your money to gamble on Wall Street. Capitalism has lost its true path and now has no regard for its workers or the country. Profits are not plowed back into more production and better wages and benefits. Profits are gambled on Wall street, or gambled overseas where the profits look better. This can't last much longer. It's going to get ugly.
Since Reagan, business and capitalism has had a free ride, as has the wealthy with the massive tax cuts that Reagan engineered. Then to pay for those cuts, he gutted the social security fund which was solvent at the time because of payments made into it by hard working Americans. So how has Socialism decimated America? You are not understanding the facts. Unbridled capitalism almost brought the world to its knees, not socialism. China is doing fine, thank you.But I really liked your comment "I agree we cannot be all for ourselves, and we all need to help each other." That's a good blend of rigid regulation both for business and banking, and for rigid oversight of social benefit cheating. There must be a mix of socialism and capitalism, if not, capitalism's greed will destroy the country, or socialism's malaise will destroy the country. Right now, the disparity of wealth between the poor and the rich in America is as bad as it has ever been, even in the great depression. It has gone way too far toward capitalism, so far that money was used for gambling on Wall Street. It wasn't investments anymore, but computer driven bets (70% of all transactions), betting on which stocks would go up or down in the next few seconds. This is what Wall Street has become, and actually what capitalism has become, nothing but casinos.
I loved this phrase "No changes could be enacted anymore because the end game of a corrupt democracy is always gridlock." Very descriptive. I know you and I tend to look at things through different glasses sometimes but we can agree that "no, it is not too late" and then back up those sentiments with action! I appreciated reading this article. No, it's not too late. Thank you so much Marijo! As Camille said, maybe this is the cleansing process, the chaos that must come before a new universal consciousness arises where wisdom and compassion replaces narrow mindedness and judgmentalism. If each of us worked on understanding ourselves at a very deep level, then we wouldn't have time to work on others - before we even understood ourselves!Best......e
Interesting facts and unfortunately more accurate than far fetched. Gives credence to the visit to Copan on Dec 21, 2012, doesn't it?I heard Dec 23, but close enough! Thanks Vincent.
Interesting article E and I agree no its not too late. I still believe the end results will be whatever God wills but I do believe we have to continue to do the footwork to make this world a better place and I do believe it is a continual cleansing from within and surrendering to God on a daily basis.
Thank you so much Linda, I agree, we each have to work on ourselves whatever form that takes. If we think that we've "got it" and try to work on others, that only comes from conceit, not self effacement which is the root of true spirituality.Best......e
